We camped beside the road under the Cawnpore Lookout on the road between Boulia and Winton.
Surrounded by flat topped red hills which looked great at sunset and dawn.
Saw a few things on the road today. A couple of Brolgas and a couple of sets of Wedge-tailed Eagles sitting on road kill. Also, White-necked Herons, Black Kites, Whistling Kites etc.
Thought the road would be flat with lots of bare earth but we had plenty of that but also crossed over lots of channels which flow south into the Diamantina Lakes. There was quite a bit of water in many of them but the recent flood levels have gone. Could still see the grass that had collected at the bases of the fence posts during the flood.
Where we have stopped for the night is in the middle of a pass through some hills.
I flew the drone at sunset and sunrise. Spectacular!
